Big triathlon will be held at Alakol

1 June 2022

On June 11–12, people of Akshi and Almaty region finally took part in the home triathlon. Here, with the support of the ERG for the first time in the sports history of the region, republican triathlon events will be held.

On Saturday, U17, U23 and Elite categories' athletes will race in National Triathlon Championship. The event day will culminate in the National Paratriathlon Championship, in which PTVI 1-3 category (visually impaired and blind) paraathletes will compete in a sprint distance, a continuous 750 m swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run.

On Sunday, the route covered by the paraathletes was tested by the participants of the TEMIRADAM Cup. In total, more than 120 athletes are expected to participate.

“Kazakh triathlon events' geography has expanded to one more region. The new region will be unique Alakol. We all know that Alakol is the only lake in the world with a black beach, its waters are famous for their healing properties. I think that all participants begin to receive not only positive emotions from the sports festival, but also appreciate the uniqueness of the lake. Our team unanimously postponed the first national paratriathlon tournament from Taldykorgan to Alakol. I am convinced that holding such a large-scale sporting event will goodly affect the socio-cultural and tourism development of the region,” commented Sergey Mayer, KTF Race director.

The start of the events is scheduled for 09.00 am, according to the rescheduling. There is still an opportunity to take part in the Alakol start and access to the race on the beautiful embankment: registration continues at www.temiradam.com.
