21 June 2019

The second competitive day of the Asian Triathlon Championships in Gyeongju ended. On this day, 69 male athletes from 14 countries of the Asian continent, including China, Singapore, Syria, Nepal, Mongolia, Japan, Taipei, Hong Kong, the Philippines, South Korea, Macau, Iran and Malaysia, started in the Elite and U23 categories . The best athlete of the continental championship was determined at the “standard” distance - 1500 m swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running.

In the category of athletes under 23 years old, our country was represented by three athletes - Daryn Konysbaev, Meirlan Iskakov and Semen Pivovarov. And here all the attention of the coaching staff and fans was riveted on Semen Pivovarov, who repeated his feat, which he demonstrated at the World Cup in Chengdu. Semen along the entire distance accompanied Daryn Konysbaev, working for the team success. Thanks to Semen Pivovarov’s personal dedication and well-coordinated confident teamwork, today's success was a success - Daryn Konysbaev managed to get on the podium, winning the first gold in the U23 category of the Asian championship. And Meyrlan Iskakov won the bronze medal.

Ayan Beisenbaev and Temirlan Temirov, representing Kazakhstan in the Elite category, finished in 6th and 7th positions, respectively.

Tomorrow, June 22, the U15 category athletes and mixed relay teams are expected to participate in the championship program. Kazakhstan fans will have the opportunity to cheer for Alexander Ten, Alexander Molchanov and Maxim Shmulich, as well as for two relay teams of the country.
