National Triathlon Championship ends in Burabay

The two-day triathlon competition ended today in Burabay. As a part of the second day of the event, the first start was given to Elite athletes, who overcame the “sprint” distance of the Kazakhstan Cross-Country Triathlon Championship (500 m swimming, 12 km cycling and 4 km running).

Windy weather and turbulent waves complicated the task of the participants, thereby making the race more interesting and spectacular. The air temperature was 24 ° C, and the water kept at 19 ° C.

After the swimming program, Anton Chikankov (Karaganda region) showed the first result and had an advantage of about 2 minutes. However, at the bike stage, the athlete from the mining region lost to the representative of the East Kazakhstan region, Alexander Kutsev, who became the champion, showing the result of 1 hour 5 minutes and 43 seconds. “Silver” was awarded to Anton Chikankov for a total time of 1 hour 6 minutes and 18 seconds. The third was Kirill Ryabtsev (East Kazakhstan region), losing to the leader about 5 minutes.

Spoerts women from the East Kazakhstan region fought for prizes. Inkar Mangibaeva was the first at to finish and became the champion with a result of 1 hour 13 minutes 5 seconds. The second place was taken by Victoria Babina with a time of 1 hour 20 minutes and 25 seconds. Anastasia Mavrina closed the three of leaders (1 hour 22 minutes and 8 seconds).

The second to the start line were the participants of the  TEMIRADAM Triathlon Cup VI stage among Age Groupers. 87 individual athletes and 9 relay teams from various regions of Kazakhstan competed in the sprint distance (750 m swimming, 20 km cycling, 5 km running).

In men, the absolutely best result of the distance was shown by the notorious professional athlete in the past, the trainer of the Astana Triathlon Federation Sergey Bondarenko. He covered the distance in 1 hour 7 minutes and 42 seconds. Well, among the beautiful half of the participants, the best time was demonstrated by a world-class master of sports in cross-country skiing, a participant of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, champion of the 5th Asian Winter Games in Aomori and the World Winter Universiade in Trentino 2013 Daria Starostina. Her time is 1 hour 21 minutes and 46 seconds. Among the relay teams, the Ironciti Kokshetau team became the best with a time of 1 hour 8 minutes and 47 seconds.
